Chapter 17
Another Chance At Life
“Where are we? Are we dead?” Earlyman asked. Both he and Jonathan seemed to have regained their composure. They looked around the place: There was no Sheriff Boatwright; there were no deputies. The room was perfectly neat. The guns were laying in the middle of the floor and there were no bullet casings on the floor.
Could it be? Jonathan thought to himself. He reached up to feel his face and found not one bruise was on it. As they stood up, he looked at the bed and saw that it was made up nice and neat with the covers pulled up over the pillows. He heard a noise and turned; to his utter shock there was that homeless man standing behind them, but this time there was a very bright ray of light glowing all around him.
And right before Jonathan’s and Earlyman’s very eyes, the homeless man began to transform.
He began to grow taller and became more muscular; his face lit up with a ray of beauty and strength. His garments became white in splendor and his eyes were as flames of fire. From his back a pair of wings began to spread from one end of the room to the other. Jonathan and Earlyman fell to the floor as dead men. “My name is Gabriel and I stand in the presence of the God of all creation. I am His messenger.” The angel said. “Stand to your feet,” he commanded. The men struggled to their feet because the glory of God was so strong in the room that it was nearly impossible to stand up. “I was sent to tell you that you are commanded to go and proclaim the things you have both seen and heard. Tell every man, everywhere. Let them all know about the destruction that is not only to come upon the town of Medulla but also on the whole world. Men must repent and stop despising what God has made. Everything that the Lord has made is beautiful. Our God is a God of variety and this includes people. Who has a right to despise His handy work?”
Both men stood and trembled under the power of God as the angel Gabriel continued to speak. “The place and the people that you just saw were all created by God created within the span of one hour, yet He made it appear to you as if it had been many days. But now He is about to return you back to the life that you both know and love. But you must go back with these things: forgiveness and love. God is going to give you both a new mouth.” At that point the angel took two burning coals and placed one in the mouths of each young man. They felt no pain to them but something that looked like the ghosts of themselves left each of their bodies. The first had a face of hurt, the second a face of anger, the third a face of rage and the last a face of low self-worth.
